Academic and Web-Based Research, Writing, Editing, and Proofreading
I have been a reader from day one, losing myself in the magnificent and lush worlds of books as early as I was able to hold them. It is this love of the written word that has driven me down a path of literary study, and facilitated my continuous honing of my writers toolkit.
I hold a BA in English Literature and Black Studies from Amherst College, a MA in English Literature from Cornell University, and am on track to complete my Ph.D. in English Literature from Cornell in the next two years. More than a love of literature, I bring writing and editing clients seven years of experience in academic writing and editing and four years experience in web-based writing (blog and microblog platforms). For the past two years I have had the pleasure of teaching writing to first-year students at Cornell as well as serving as a grading assistant in higher-level undergraduate classes, and each moment has served as a greater opportunity to hone my skills as an instructor, editor, and proofreader of English language writing. My interest in and instruction of writing extends from the page to the screen; as I make a point to teach my students digital literacy, I have developed my own abilities in digital writing (blogs, microblog platforms, etc.) Furthermore, I am hard at work on my own doctoral dissertation, the culmination of five years of sustained academic research and writing on a particular topic. From PDF organizing to microlevel argument structure to bibliography formatting, I am an expert in each stage of the academic writing and research process, and offer these skills to potential clients as well.
Clear, effective writing expressing well articulated analysis and argument is critical to engagement in every market in our society. I look forward to the opportunity to assist clients in the process of materializing their thoughts in the best and most impactful way possible. Thanks for checking out my profile!
