SKILLS / ABILITIES

Teaching: I am currently teaching creative writing to teenagers and young adults. I make use of creative and exciting teaching methods to keep my classes interesting and productive. I've had huge success in inspiring my students with authentic teaching materials and assisting them in exploring their own creativity.

Management and staff training: Editor, News editor, article editor.

Project management: Insert-projects, marketing projects.

PR and marketing: Planning, coordinating events. Highly
experienced in dealing with the public (readers and advertisers).

Organisational skills: Deadlines, projects, managing a news office.

Journalist: Crime, health, travel, entertainment (music, art,
television), horticultural.

Article planning: Angle identification, evaluation and development.

Translating: Educational school books, news articles, research

Research and sourcing: Factual articles and historical notes.

Typography: Involved in newspaper redesign and page-layout.


SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS

As an editor: I motivated and encouraged a team of journalists,
photographers, page layout artists and sub-editors.

As a journalist: I wrote hundreds of articles for a wide range of well
known magazines and newspapers such as Rooi Rose, Beeld, Rapport,
Die Burger, Volksblad, Son, Bike SA, Vrouekeur and online publications
including LitNet and Brandpunt.

I created the first Afrikaans internet magazine, Brandpunt, with an
editorial team of famous artists, writers and musicians in 2002.

Three of the English plays I wrote were all performed in fringe and
mainstreams theatres.?

I created a cookbook for Media24 in 2011.

My essays were included in four books published by Carpe Diem
Publications.

I wrote press releases for record labels such as EMI, Universal, Gallo and Sting.
