About

Graduate student from The University of Sydney School of public health. Bachelors in biology and English literature from Boston College.

Making novel connections across different industries and drawing from abstract sources are necessary for creative problem solving. Having studied science, liberal arts, engineering and now health policy I believe that I bring a distinct viewpoint and background knowledge that will allow me to ask the right questions.

My undergraduate degree provided me with a strong theoretical knowledge of biological processes as well as hands on experience in research laboratories. An applied understanding of the process through which biological compounds are studied. Having studied English literature as an undergraduate, I feel confident in my ability to convey my thoughts in writing on a range of topics. Most important, I am able to accurately relay biological and medical processes to individuals with differing levels of knowledge of the industry.

As a master’s student at The University of Sydney’s school of public health, I concentrated on statistics and applied epidemiology. Hard skills that I have developed include a basis in SPSS and SAS. Tasks such as epidemiological calculations and population modeling allowed me to tap into my previous experience using Microsoft Excel.

Administrative and customer service skills were essential tools that I utilized while working at FlightCar, a startup car rental company. I provided logistical support for customer damage claims to ensure repairs and reparations were properly handled. When evidence suggested fraud I had to respectfully refuse service to the customer and explain my reasoning. Vendor interactions required negotiating and an understanding of their niche market. One initiative that my supervisor and I pursued was bulk billing for auto mechanic services, which relied upon a strong relationship we had built with a local business.
