Technical Proof-Editor/Proofreader specialising in the environment, science, and engineering

I am a Chartered Environmentalist and member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

As a native English speaker, I offer a service for most subjects, although I specialise in science and engineering and can provide particular expertise in environmental matters (e.g. environmental engineering, sustainability, energy, air and water pollution, conservation, environmental policy and management, and climate change). However, proofreading skills are transferrable to any subject matter; prior knowledge of a subject often helps but isn’t always essential. I possess an eye for detail and pride myself on a professional, meticulous approach to every project I undertake.

My qualifications include MSc Environmental Engineering (Distinction) and BSc (Hons) Geography. In more recent years I have completed proofreading training by the SfEP and also the Publishing Training Centre achieving a Merit.

Prior to freelancing I was employed as an Environment Manager in the rail industry, a Senior Regulated Industry Officer at the Environment Agency, and a Senior Environmental Engineer in the oil and gas sector. However, I eventually tired of the limitations of corporate life and decided to use my natural writing skills to pursue a more rewarding freelance career.
