What Inspires and Challenges me?
“Did you take that training?”
“Yeah, wow, it really hit me when they said that scenario was a true story.”
“I know, it was interesting to see how one small short cut to help a friend just kept growing.”
Moments like that, overhearing a conversation on the lunch line about the training you and your team developed, makes the process and effort designers put into the creation of instructional so worth it.
Of course, if all we received is accolades, we wouldn’t grow. Perhaps the hardest feedback to hear is, “This was a waste of time,” or “this doesn’t apply to anything I do.”
Throughout my career, I’ve had plenty of both, as I worked with many different types of companies in various industries, from the U.S. Army to Miller Brewing, with the last 15 years dedicated to financial firms, such as DTCC and Prudential Financial.
