Aspiring audiobook voice actor knowledgeable in English, science, and public speaking, confident in preparing, recording, and editing complex texts.

After a concussion in 2020 left me unable to lean on my usual screen-requiring hobbies, I turned to audiobooks as a way to cope during this period. After I healed, I found that I still wanted books playing at all times - in the car, while crafting, hiking, whenever a mundane moment would allow. I became drawn to how the carefully curated performance of a book by someone else added so much emotion and compassion toward every character. Audiobooks leave me with much more profound conclusions that are easier to integrate into my life, leading to healing far beyond my concussion. While I have always been fond of reading novels, audiobooks have made enjoying books a daily and prioritized practice. I found myself connecting more with my loved ones, discussing and recommending books with a passion that I never would have found without the effort of so many talented voice-actors. More than this, I began connecting more with myself. I began showing myself more compassion, patience, and acceptance of my imperfections and struggles, simply because I found a pathway to hear the stories of so many other human beings. Seeing this change in my life, especially in the middle of an isolating pandemic, and realizing that my knowledge and previous experiences are a solid foundation for this field, I am now pursuing a career in audiobook voice acting, in efforts to have the same impact on someone else that audiobooks have had on me. I currently work as a trainer and analyst for a horticulture laboratory, but have adjusted my schedule to provide 3 days off per week to focus on this change in career. My skills in education, science and public speaking due to my work as a tutor and trainer, my biology degree, and experience with oration in high school Speech and Debate makes educational scientific texts my current forte. However, I am looking for any projects that will expand my abilities to reach my goal of recording full-length novels.

Work Terms

My preferred communication style is email. I am fully available Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays, with limited availability other days of the week. I prefer pay-per-hour contracts, but am open to any payment terms.
