About

Knowledge, Compassion, Understanding...Knowledge about Cannabis, Compassionate care for medical cannabis patients, understanding of patients needs.

I resided in Colorado during the early days of regulated medical marijuana. Motivated by a diagnosis of prostate cancer, I sought cannabis therapy for treatment. I soon learned there was no therapy available. No information about how or where the plant was grown, no testing results certifying the absence of pesticide residuals, no testing to inform me of the cannabinoid profile or THC content and at the time, no availability of extracted oils.
Many changes have occurred since then. Colorado has become much more sophisticated and continues to strive for a consistently safe environment. Massive recalls were enacted resulting from pesticide residuals and strict regulations are now being put in place.
I currently live in Florida. We are looking forward to the passage of Amendment 2 in November. The language is not perfect but it’s better than waiting another two years for an opportunity. Even if it passes, Floridians will wait another nine months before it is enacted. The puzzling aspect is the absence of any mention about growing standards, use of pesticides or testing for residuals and determining the cannabinoid profile and THC % prior to the sale.
At the rapid pace marijuana is becoming legal in America, each new state should benefit from the knowledge gained. All states are aware of the pesticide issue and the need to test marijuana for profiles and THC. They are watching Colorado, yet there is not a word in the official language for Amendment 2 in Florida regarding this. The future patients who have waited so long for marijuana to become available want this. How can a serious patient treat their condition effectively?
I have launched an effort to unite and align future medical marijuana patients and caregivers throughout the state of Florida. If we can align caregivers with five patients each, and assist them in becoming registered with the state, they will become a powerful voice in the future evolution of medical marijuana in Florida.
