I have been writing and editing professionally for over a decade, in both American and British English. My primary work has focused on strategy, technical guidance, and training documents. I also work on policy and reporting documents, marketing and impact copy, and even the occasional fiction project.

My passion is assisting individuals, teams, and organizations to identify and organize the information that they need to share, then translate their stories, policies, and technical expertise into clear, engaging documents. I work extensively with authors and practitioners for whom English is not a first language.

My background in international relief and development, public health, forensic science, and education gives me a broad understanding of effective communication for a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders.

I am a member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), an intermediate member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), and have earned a Certificate in Editing from Poynter News University and the American Copy Editors Society. I am currently preparing for certification in Technical Communication.

Work Terms

HOURS: My standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday 11am to 8pm Pacific Standard/Daylight Time, excluding US holidays.

However, I can often be available for rush projects outside those hours.

Similarly, if I bid on a job that lists hours outside my normal hours, I am committing to accomplishing the project under the required terms.

FEES: My fees are based on the size and complexity of the project (except where pre-determined by the client’s job description). I work to ensure that fees are reasonable and realistic for the quality and amount of work provided.

Where applicable, I am happy to review the material to provide an estimate of the time required to complete the project.

Payment terms are listed on the final contract or TOR agreed for the project. For new clients I generally require a 40% deposit.
