Over 25 years experience in the design and implementation of software systems in the areas of Internet Communications, Web Applications, Operating Systems and Telecommunications. Led Engineering teams at an Internet startup that grew to a $1 Billion valuation in a successful IPO. Repeated success delivering software products and services both individually and as a team leader. Deep understanding of software architectures and their related trade-offs. Extensive experience using both traditional and agile software development processes to deliver robust software solutions.
Most recently I have been working as an independent consultant and software developer. For Oracle I developed a number of Rails and Play (Java/Scala) based web sites and API services including a Bookmark Tagging application and a Web Forms WYSIWYG Rails application generator as well as an inter web site data migration tool set.
For an early stage startup, I developed an entire social networking web application and provided online deployment services for the client. The site allows users to record their opinions on current social /political issues, create a network of friends/followers and compare their opinions with similarity scores. User registration/sign in with Facebook and Twitter accounts is provided. The technology stack used was MySQL, Sequel, Ruby on Rails, Devise, jQuery and deployed on AWS.
I enjoy learning and using new technologies in the development of software solutions. It is, however, important to come to a good understanding of their key benefits and possible costs and risks when addressing adoption decisions.
Work Terms
I am Silicon Valley, California based and prefer to work within the 7am to 7pm time frame with the possible exception of occasional meetings outside of that window.
