Since entering the publishing field after college, I have had the opportunity to learn a variety of skills. While most of my experience has been in academic and scientific editing, I also have experience in the following areas:

The breadth of my experience allows me to see projects from a top-level viewpoint in addition to focusing on minute details and imperfections, a skill that past employers and clients have found valuable.

But at the heart of my work is the message – the words. Which is why I selected Words Copyediting as the name of my freelance company. Words have been my passion as long as I can remember. I am always reading at least one book, and have been known to read the backs of food packages while I eat. I watch movies with the subtitles on. I study grammar and linguistics for fun. I am a word geek.

Much as I love the minutiae of writing, though, I believe that there is more to editing than nitpicky rules and customs. I am a dedicated reader advocate; my business is making sure the message you are conveying is understood by the reader.
