About

Retired American living in Italy. I haven't won the lottery yet so I better work.

I am Richard Jasmer. I am a retired American living in Italy. I retired in 2001 and have been living in Italy since 1997. I have been teaching English in Italy to students of all ages from elementary school to retirees since 2007. I also do English proofreading's, editing of documents (to include web pages), and with my wife we are a team for English/Italian translations, Italian proofreading, and typing/editing. My wife is Italian and has ben working (and still does) for the U.S. Navy at the local base. Between us you get native speakers of both languages with years of experience. All work done with documents is accomplished with a combination of technology and the old fashioned method of reading with a dictionary close to hand. I also have had training in web development (HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and Wordpress) for anyone wishing to have a web page translated or proofread/edited.

Work Terms

I am retired so I am available. My wife does work but I am available most of the time. For potential employers in the U.S., the time difference may actually be a benefit. When there is work to be done before the next day, while you sleep, I work. Most of my teaching is done online so I am usually available. As for rates, that depends on many things. Proofreading/editing is easier and rates will be lower unless there is a very short deadline or the original is in very poor condition. Translations require more work so will have a slightly higher price and as with the proofreading/editing, price can increase for deadlines and poor quality originals. That being said, prices are very negotiable and I am sure we can come to an agreement. As for a payment schedule, that is also negotiable.
