Sharper Insights - Better Outcomes. Finance/contracts/operations management pro: government contracting, nonprofits, professional services. Analysis, strategy, M&A, turnarounds.

I offer my clients over 25 years of experience as a CFO, Controller and advisor.

Following my Wharton MBA, I worked at Ernst & Young for 6 years as a Senior Manager in Singapore and Washington, DC. Since leaving EY I have focused on US government contracting at IT, aerospace, and other technology-based companies; nonprofits; and international development. Although these organizations differ widely, the common thread running through them is compliance with government protocols including Federal Acquisition Regulations, Cost Accounting Standards, pricing and contract/grant management, mandated reporting, and audit.

As a CFO and Controller, I have worked primarily at small and medium enterprises. My style is hands-on and collaborative. I have grown and managed Finance and Operations teams of 2 to 7 covering a full range of functions including
• GL, Invoicing and AR, AP
• Financial and Management Reporting
• Budgeting and Forecasting
• Tax
• Banking and Credit
• Appointment of and Coordination with Independent Accountants
• Contracts (Cost-Plus, T&M, and Fixed Price), Subcontracts, and Grants
• Indirect Costs and Billing Rates
• Time and Expense Reporting
• Provisional and Incurred Cost Submissions
• Audit (Financial, DCAA, A-133)
• HR
• Benefits (health, 401k and more)
• Recruitment
• Staffing and Scheduling
• Payroll

I am highly proficient with Excel and other MS Office applications, and have worked with the following accounting, professional services automation (PSA), CRM, and HR-related solutions:
• SAP
• NetSuite
• Deltek GCS and T&E
• Abila MIP Fund Accounting
• QuickBooks Enterprise Edition
• Salesforce
• OpenAir
• Projector
• ADP
• Taleo
• Zenefits

I live in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., with my wife and our standard poodle.
