Creating and exploring maps.
I am currently working as a freelancer with GIS and other mapping services. I have an educational background in Coastal Zone Management (Bachelor degree), fisheries & aquaculture (Minor), Marine Biology (Major). During this study I have learned to work with GIS. Later, during my job at the Dutch Fisheries Association, I have increased my skills with GIS, which led me to start my own company as a freelancer with GIS.
These are also my interest. I have special intersts for mapping, fisheries, aquaculture, and Marine Biology.
One of my key experiences is working with VMS (Vessel Monitoring System) data from fishing vessels. This is satellite data which is obtained every 2 hours on average. I have worked a lot with this data, and have been mapping this data for the Fisheries Association so that we could see the fishing activities in several areas (i.e. MPA's).
Another experience is that I have worked with Marine Plotter programs. I have transformed GIS data into suitable files for several marine plotters so I could distribute them to fishermen. These were data layers such as closed areas and buoy locations.
