About

Committed to providing professional software development services

Hello! I got started in software development after graduating with a double bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Physics from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Computer Science was emphasized there - with introductory C++ being a required course for all students.

I now have 6+ years as a professional developer and have worked in the utility and financial domains as an engineer providing custom software solutions. Additionally, I work on personal and professional web applications and web sites for a variety of clients.

I'm very creative and committed to providing you or your company a quality development service; and believe that this requires: technical expertise; clear communication; and careful project planning around your requirements.

I live and work in the Chicago area and grew up here as well so am no stranger to the windy city! I have a passion for the outdoors and for music. And I try to spend as much spare time as I can spending time with friends and family.

Work Terms

I try to keep very clear and open communication with all my clients. This includes email; skype; and documentation. Before any work is done I outline the requirements and estimates to complete each piece.

All work is broken down into manageable chunks and I like to review each with my clients after it is completed. The goal is to always provide something usable at the end of each "iteration" so that you have working software and I have compensation for that chunk of work.

So, to start, we would have 1 or several phone conversations and / or email exchanges about what you want built. If you happen to live in the Chicago area I would suggest a sit down at a Starbucks or somewhere to get together and talk about the project.

After that I would take some (non-billed) time to estimate the work and break it down if necessary into manageable pieces. After that I'd review them with you before starting billable work.

My standard rate is $60 / hour on billed work. This only includes time spent coding the actual product; and does not include estimation time, design time, or research time if the latter 2 are required.

After the work is completed - and depending on the complexity - I would ask you to do some basic testing to ensure that you got what you wanted. If there are any discrepancies between the finished product and the documented work item they would be considered individually. If the problem is a defect against what we agreed on then I would fix it free of charge. Otherwise, the time would be billed.

I find that keeping open and constant communication is the best path to a successful product and work relationship.

Hope to work with you soon and get your ideas out there!

Sincerely,
-Ryan
