Sarah is an entrepreneur managing 2 companies which she founded namely “Sow and Grow Foundation” (SGF) and “Aroma Honey Toffee” (AHT). “Sow and Grow Foundation” (website: http://sowandgrowfoundation.org/en/) is a service provider for capacity development in the fields of agriculture and livestock. The current SGF areas of emphasis are (i) Consultancies for delivery of livelihood improvement programmes, (ii) decision support software for agriculture and livestock production and (iii) support towards peer mentoring programmes. “Aroma Honey Toffee” (website: https://aromahoneytoffee.wordpress.com/) produces toffees from honey and free of any processed sugar. Sarah has vast experience in agricultural research and development and sound experience in agribusiness. She successfully led 10 research projects over the 15 years she worked with NARO in Uganda. Prominent among these was a project through which a computer based dairy feeding Decision Support Tool; ENDIISA was developed. (Website; http://sowandgrowfoundation.org/tool_Costs.php). This innovation, in 2010, won the first prize at the”African Women in Science” Competition. As a Graduate Fellow at ILRI-Kenya, Sarah, in collaboration with DIAS identified strategies for improvement of soil fertility management for different types of mixed farms in Uganda. As the Programme Assistant of the Livestock and Fisheries Programme at ASARECA, she successfully co-ordinated 10 regional research and development projects spread across 9 countries and over 50 institutions in the Eastern and Central African Region. At SNV as a Senior Agriculture Advisor Sarah led the Horticulture and Dairy Value Chain Development teams as well as an Oilseed Value Chain action research study. Sarah has a PhD in Natural Resource Management in mixed crop-livestock farming systems and MSc in Tropical Pastures. Sarah is one of the mentors in the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) Programme.
