The Urban Development Directorate (UDD) operates under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Government of Bangladesh. It is the country’s leading urban planning and development agency, responsible for formulating and implementing spatial development plans, master plans, and comprehensive urban strategies across different cities and upazilas.
UDD’s work focuses on:
Preparing Comprehensive Development Plans (CDPs), Master Plans, and Structure Plans for sustainable urbanization. Promoting planned urban growth, land use management, and infrastructure development. Integrating GIS and remote sensing technologies for spatial analysis, mapping, and data-driven decision-making. Collaborating with national and international agencies to address urban resilience, climate adaptation, and disaster risk reduction.
