Writing wasn't just about what words I could create, but who I could create words for. I first started writing at the age of eleven when I was stuck at home, bored in my room and was feeling expressive. The form of writing I did was free-write poetry which I came to rely on and love as I grew older.

One day, I let my grandmother see one of my poems and she said that it was amazing and it would be at a college level. I knew that my work was far from college level, but I promised myself that I would continue writing to become bigger and better...for her.

As the years grew weary and I eventually got separated from my grandmother, not by death but by distance, I wrote nonstop hoping that one day she would come back and I would show her all of the work had done while she was away and she would continue to be proud of her little girl. It was okay that she didn't come back within the week, or within the month, or with the year...it's been four years now.

Each year that went by I wrote at least four poems addressed to my grandmother, and each time the papers that were written in my journal stayed there waiting to be shown to the one person I wrote them for. From my dedication towards my grandmothers poems, I was able to stem and control the emotions I put into her poems to be used towards other poems. By enabling this, I was able to be invited to attend a speech at my school to be a honored guest for 2024 Poet Laureate Curtis Crisler.

This further inspired me to write more poetry and gave me courage to be able to perform my poems on stage at multiple places such as at my church, weddings, meetings, funerals, for my family, friends and so much more.

So again, I love writing poetry because of who I write for and not just because I can write, even though that helps me too to extinguish enraged emotions. I write for whoever needs to be heard because I know how it felt when I wasn't.

I plan to continue writing through college by minoring in creative writing and building up a website I created for my poetry and to eventually publish my first book of my work. By doing this, I intend to create honor and pride for my grandmother who was my motivation to keep going all of these years. Love is was my purpose to begin writing as it will be my will to keep going.

Work Terms

I am available from Monday to Friday from 3pm-8pm. My minimum payment I would prefer would be $9 an hour.
