My name is Tamara Morris-Lawton, I am a 39-year-old wife and mother of 4 children. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a minor in statistics. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership. I worked as a Pension Administrator for Sagicor Jamaica Limited for six years where I managed a portfolio of pension plans. In this position, I prepared annual reports, reconciled membership and payment data, held trustee and membership meetings upon request, prepared termination and retirement calculations, as well as prepared data for the actuarial department. Working in the capacity of a pension administrator aided the refinement of my communication skills, efficiency, and overall professionalism. I have developed a deepened appreciation for teamwork as I was required to collaborate with various departments to deliver on my obligations to clients.
After leaving Sagicor in December 2008, I home-schooled my 4 children from Pre-K to grade 5 for 7 years. In this aspect of my life, I would have realized tremendous growth. Home-schooling was a humbling experience for me as molding the minds of individuals required patience, faith, and resilience. All of which were put to practice to meet the needs of my children. My home-schooling experience has equipped me with insights and skills relative to supervision, training, administration, and accountability. I believe that reading unlocks the path to success as such, I taught remedial reading classes to children in my community. As an active participant in my children's school, I currently serve as the PTA President and a member of the school board. My faith is very important to me and I have been blessed with the opportunity to use my life skills to impact members of the women’s youth, children, and self-reliance organizations. Through my love for reading, I have been able to develop an understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
Work Terms
My hours of operation are flexible, however, I prefer to work between the hours of 7:30 am and 11:30 am and 7 pm to 9 pm.
