Currently, I freelance as a contracting consultant for employee communications and human resources projects.with several companies, leaving me free time to work on other communications and human resources projects. I like the freelance life because I like a variety of assignments instead of working for a single company.
My interests and background are wide-ranging, including work at Fortune 500 companies, international consulting firms, and scientific research entities, such as Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
I am a former instructor in English at the University of Tennessee and have a law degree. I don't practice law at present, but my legal knowledge of contracts and business and association law have proved an asset to my clients.

Work Terms
I'm a 24/7 kind of professional. When you need me, I'm there. If I should be away from the phone, I'll return your call within 2-3 hours at most.
Some tasks, such as proofreading, are suitable for billing by the hour. There are standard criteria for how long such work should take. Apart from that, I prefer to quote a flat rate for most assignments. I don't expect my clients to pay for extra time if I run into a research problem or feel the need to rewrite something before delivering it.
In general, if the assignment is big, such as editing a book or ghost-writing one, I bill one-third at start-up, one-third at the halfway point, and one-third upon completion. For assignments that can be completed within a week or less, I generally bill one-half at the half-way point of the assignment and the second half upon completion. Rates are negotiable, depending on the complexity and size of the assignment. My goal is to have long-term clients.
