Theresa Jackson is the founder of Enlightened Journeys Travel, a boutique advisory and private concierge service. She is the author of magazine articles on travel and a book, The World’s Top Wine Destinations: An Expert’s Guide to What to See and Do Beyond the Vine.
When she traveled and lived abroad as an adult she thought with a good guidebook and plenty of research on the Internet, she could have all the travel experiences she dreamed of. But she learned she was missing so much by relying on distilled, crowd-sourced opinions. She was further saddened to see her fellow Americans jogging through world destinations and barely scratching the surface, or with their noses in guidebooks and missing special moments around them and behind hidden doors. She also saw how mass tourism placed a detrimental burden on destinations.
Theresa’s passion is to connect travelers to a place, time,peoples, and nature so that they have memories of experiences, not just sights. She further strives to protect and conserve culture and nature through responsible travel and her motto is Travel For Good. Her mission is to create the type of travel that benefits the places visited. She believes deep connections with a place, its people and culture bring about greater understanding, empathy and cooperation in the world.
While I do accept clients for one trip per year, I also work on retainer for a select few who need several travel itineraries curated per year. I charge a fee for my planning services for my quality of service, in depth knowledge and privileged access to the best the world has to offer. I accept payment by check, credit card, bank wire transfer and PayPal.
