Senior Infrastructure Engineer | FreeBSD · Linux · PostgreSQL · nginx | 20+ yrs in financial services & enterprise
Infrastructure holds together under pressure — or it doesn't. After 20+ years keeping production systems running across financial exchanges, hosting, and enterprise environ ments, I've learned that the job is rarely purely technical. It's knowing when a ticket describes the wrong problem, when two teams have agreed on different things, and whe n the right fix is one that won't need revisiting.
My core stack: FreeBSD and Linux systems, PostgreSQL, nginx/OpenResty, Redis, Prometheus. I build things that stay up without babysitting: config management that deploys on hundred hosts in seconds instead of minutes, monitoring that surfaces problems before they become incidents, failover that doesn't require a war room. I write production c ode when infrastructure needs something that doesn't exist yet: Rust, Lua, Python, Shell.
Most recently: 10+ years supporting infrastructure for a high-uptime financial exchange — rate limiting and JWT validation across two datacenters, Prometheus visibility whe re there was none, nginx fleet rollout alongside existing HAProxy, built the NTP mesh for real-time market data clusters to keep hosts in local consensus, and diagnosed Cas sandra GC issues that had been accepted as normal - until it wasn't.
Outside work hours I maintain FreeBSD ports and write open-source tooling — an SMTP→Telegram gateway, an RSS/ATOM bot with adaptive scheduling, and a few others.
I'm open to Senior SysAdmin, Infrastructure Engineer, Platform Engineer, and SRE roles — ideally office-based.
