I am an accomplished commercial leader with twelve years' experience, cutting across Digital Financial Services (DFS) , Mpesa, Equitel, MNO, MVNO, sales , marketing and commercial. Expertise

William Ochola has recently joined United Pay Limited as Agency Banking and Financial Inclusion Senior Consultant. He is an accomplished commercial leader with 12 years’ experience, cutting across sales, marketing, commercial and Digital Financial Services (DFS). His broad expertise covers diverse fields such as strategy, planning, and running new and existing lines of business, in both consumer and business units markets, coupled with an extensive experience in go to market, third party distribution and channel management across Africa.

For the past 2 years, William has acted as Agent/Merchant Digital Financial Services Specialist-Africa (Johannesburg) for the Word Bank Group –IFC where he is responsible for the Agent and merchant acquisition strategy in African markets, including product roadmap and market strategy. Prior to that he was the Sales and Distribution Manager (Nairobi) for Equity Bank Group (Kenya), providing strategic leadership to MVNO roll out alongside developing and implementing strategic plans, business operations, sales and marketing initiatives.
William has also successfully occupied the position of Territory Manager (Nairobi) for Safaricom Ltd (Kenya), responsible for providing strategic leadership to 6 Territory sales Executive, 19 dealers, 70 dealer staff and 10,000 SMEs with annual sales revenue of Kshs 200 million. Prior to becoming the Territory Manager, William has previously held the positions of Area Sales Manager (North Rift) and Area Sales Representative (Upper Western) at Safaricom.
Earlier in his career, William has occupied challenging sales roles in numerous companies, namely: Sasini Ltd (Kenya) as Sales Executive; Kapa Oil Refineries Ltd (Kenya) as Regional Sales Representative; Pwani Ltd (Kenya) as Sales Representative; and Sumaria Group Ltd (Tanzania) as Territory Sales In-charge.
A member of The Chartered Institute Of Marketing UK, William also holds an MBA (Marketing) from The University Of Nairobi and a CPA (Certified).
