About

I was Born in Greenwich Connecticut. The year was 1954.. After graduating from
Darien High School in 1973, I attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City.
I graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and was honored with the sole $1,000 Francis Criss Award for outstanding performance in Fine Arts.

While still in College I began painting realistic scenic backdrops for commercial film and photography. By 1986 my clients included the automobile, fashion, sports, music, film and television industries. My work has appeared on the covers of Fashion of the Times, Time Magazine, Life Magazine and numerous other world wide publications and media. In 1987, I was featured on Evening Magazine in a segment called “Behind the Backdrops”.

Another facet of my commercial painting is giving life to fabricated environments and sculpture, In essence, my canvas is three dimensional. In 1996 I textured and “aged” all of the fabricated building facades at Caesar’s Palace “The Forum Shops” in Las Vegas to appear to be thousands of years old.

In 2008, I painted The Revard Plaza Carousel in Detroit to make the custom made carousel creatures (indigenous to the Detroit River environment) to match their natural coloring and characteristic features. Included were the decorative panels and murals that completed the entire carousel design.

Again in 2013, I painted The Rose Kennedy Greenway Carousel in Boston... only this time the creatures were indigenous to the state of Massachusetts.

And all the while.... in 1990 “Things About Jim” came to life. Born out of hard times, a cartoon character named Jim knocked on the door of my current circumstances. At that time, my possession list was only a five inch television set for entertainment. But that was enough to make me laugh

... when I decided to watch a little TV.
