The CASA/GAL will be responsible for working with attorneys, social workers and other professionals as well as parents, family members, neighbors, school officials, doctors, the child and others involved in the child’s life who might have facts about the case to determine the best interest of children who are brought before the court for reasons of abuse or neglect. He/she will review court documents on the case and submit a report to the Judge after every scheduled hearing/review.
The CASA/GAL will monitor the flow of the case to make sure that the judicial and child welfare systems are moving along in securing a safe and permanent home for the child, and all court-ordered services are being provided to the child and family with the goal of the program being the reunification of child or children with their biological family, when the home is safe for the children to return.
