1. Overview
I require a professionally engineered PCB system for a wireless smart chessboard that detects piece identity and position using an array of external RFID/NFC antennas (one per square), integrated with Hall-effect sensors for presence detection, and LED indicators for move guidance. The system will be controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller firebeetle 2 and interfaced with a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W for running the chess engine and GUI.
Key design goals
- Accurate RFID recognition of 64 tagged chess pieces
- Fast and reliable scanning
- Minimal cross-talk between antennas
- Strong magnetic sensing Hall effect sensors
- Responsive LED effects
- Full integration with ESP32 + Raspberry Pi
- Low noise, stable power delivery
- Manufacturable at reasonable cost
