Insurance Subject Matter Expert (SME) – AI Model Evaluation

Contract Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

Duration: Approximately 1–3 months

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support an AI model evaluation initiative focused on insurance workflows. In this role, you will review AI-generated outputs, evaluate model performance, and provide expert feedback to improve AI systems used across the insurance industry.
This is a fully remote independent contractor opportunity.

Responsibilities
Evaluate AI-generated responses related to insurance operations.
Review workflows involving:
Policy renewal and retention
Underwriting
Claims processing
Risk assessment
Pricing and quoting
Identify inaccuracies, gaps, and inconsistencies in AI-generated content.
Validate responses using real-world insurance practices and regulatory requirements.
Support AI model improvement through structured feedback and evaluations.
Collaborate with AI and product teams on insurance-specific workflows.
Assist with annotation and evaluation tasks using your insurance expertise.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
7+ years of insurance industry experience.
Experience in one or more of the following:
Underwriting
Claims
Policy Renewal
Customer Retention
Risk Management
Pricing
Commercial Insurance
Property & Casualty
Life Insurance
Health Insurance
Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) is preferred.
Strong written English communication skills.
Experience working with cross-functional teams.
