Project Type: Contract Consulting – Freight Strategy Development
Our company needs to develop an international supply chain for the production and transportation of fully assembled enclosed cargo trailers and trailer components. We are seeking an experienced international shipping and maritime logistics expert to help us identify extremely low cost-efficient freight strategies and develop direct relationships with shipping carriers.
Our primary shipping routes include:
• Dominican Republic → United States (primarily Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA ) for finished enclosed cargo trailers
• China → Dominican Republic for trailer materials and components
The goal of this engagement is to identify the lowest possible shipping rates and logistics structures while minimizing reliance on freight brokers and unnecessary intermediaries. We are interested in working directly with ocean carriers, vessel operators, port agents, or logistics professionals who have experience and shipping relationship to negotiate and structure freight contracts and optimizing international shipping costs.
The consultant will help evaluate shipping options such as RoRo (roll-on/roll-off), flat rack containers, oversized cargo shipping, and equipment transport methods suitable for moving fully assembled enclosed trailers from the Dominican Republic to the US (east coast), which are really close shipping lanes. At this time, the trailers must ship fully assembled, as we do not currently have the ability to ship knock-down units for reassembly.
Deliverables should include:
• Recommended low-cost shipping strategies for our DR → U.S. and China → DR routes
• Identification of shipping carriers or operators capable of offering competitive rates
• Guidance on establishing direct carrier relationships and contract freight pricing
• Estimated freight cost models as shipment volumes increase
Ideal candidates will have experience in maritime logistics, international freight negotiation, equipment or vehicle transport, and Caribbean shipping routes.
Applicants should provide a brief overview of relevant experience and examples of similar logistics optimization projects.
This project will lead to ongoing collaboration with the right person as our production and shipping volume grows.
