Roof Assessment Specialist — Dataset & Q

Position summary
We are seeking a Roof Assessment Specialist to evaluate residential and commercial properties from aerial and street-level imagery. Assessments produced in this role directly inform customer quotes and serve as the labeled dataset underlying our computer vision and machine learning pipeline.
Responsibilities
Evaluate properties using drone imagery, Street View photography, public LIDAR, and county records
Identify and segment roof materials, estimate roof pitch, and document visible defects using a structured assessment schema
Assign condition ratings and recommended actions consistent with established standards
Maintain accuracy and inter-rater consistency across high assessment volumes
Contribute to refinement of the assessment schema, defect taxonomy, and quality standards
Audit work produced by other team members and provide structured feedback
Review and correct model-generated assessments as the system matures, with corrections feeding the training dataset
Required qualifications
Significant professional experience in roofing — installation, estimating, inspection, or claims adjustment
Demonstrated ability to identify roof systems from imagery, including visually similar materials (architectural vs. three-tab shingle, stone-coated steel vs. asphalt, single-ply membrane variants)
Competence in pitch estimation from oblique imagery
Working knowledge of regional construction patterns and architectural era as predictors of roof characteristics
Discipline in applying structured categorical data; ability to maintain consistency across large assessment volumes
Preferred qualifications
Familiarity with drone imagery, photogrammetry concepts, or aerial inspection workflows
Background in insurance claim assessment or storm damage documentation
Prior experience contributing to labeled datasets for machine learning applications
Role characteristics
This is a remote, desk-based position. The role does not involve field inspection, ladder work, or direct customer contact. Candidates who prefer on-site work or sales-facing responsibilities should not apply.
