Flights across the United States were unexpectedly suspended on Wednesday, raising many concerns about the nature of the "technical problem" that the authorities claimed to have caused it.

After a lengthy halt, flights across the country were once again in operation after the Federal Aviation Administration discovered a problem with the "NOTAM" system, which provides pilots with the crucial information they need to fly an aircraft.

According to a senior government official quoted by the American "NBC" network on Wednesday evening, "a corrupt file infected both the primary and backup systems," adding that investigators are still looking into the matter.

  •  The FAA issued a statement saying, "The FAA continues to conduct a complete examination to determine the core cause of the (NOTAM) system disruption." "Our initial investigation linked the outage to a damaged database file. There is no proof of a cyberattack at this time."

While reiterating the administration's assertion that "there is no proof of a hack," US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stated on Wednesday evening that "the FAA will further identify the source and explain procedures to prevent it from happening again."

While noting the annoyance of visitors, he voiced his amazement at "this amount of disturbance," emphasising that "safety always comes first."

According to him, "this is an enormously complicated system, so glitches or issues happen all the time. However, we can never allow it to lead to this amount of disruption, and we will never allow it to cause a safety issue."
