A close attention to the relationship between detail, accuracy, and efficiency has also undergirded much of my professional experience. In my work with literary and publishing organizations, it was essential to be able to track many projects simultaneously without losing sight of each's many pieces; similarly, as a research assistant for two professors at Amherst, I was expected to accurately synthesize data from many disparate sources. Both arenas require adherence to a strict timetable without sacrificing quality of the work, as others depend on your timely performance. Often my positions required adapting to new materials or systems quickly – for example, mimicking an existing piece of graphic design, or reading and annotating a book in a field with which you are relatively unfamiliar – which taught me how to encourage both creativity and careful examination in my own work.
