For any text, editing is always the most important developmental process. Putting pen to paper in the first place can feel like the hardest part, but in reality it is developmental editing that refines the work into its final form.
Strong writing will always benefit from a careful, considered editorial eye. I offer thoughtful, detailed editing tailored to your goals, genre, and intended audience, helping your work reach its full potential and carry its intended impact, while preserving your authentic voice and style.
My editing focuses on improving structure, clarity, flow, consistency, and tone. Depending on your needs, this may involve light line editing or more in-depth revisions. We will always begin by having an in-depth discussion on your goals for the text and what you would like to address.
From there I begin editing, sending you my comments digitally. We can also arrange a meeting to discuss the changes. I am able to work in a variety of softwares, including Word Track Changes, Google Docs, and even handwritten notes for those less technologically confident.
I usually edit on the basis that more information for my clients is better, so I will usually work on the assumption that my client will not approve every change I make. This is to give the author the most choice and feedback as possible.
