Developmental editing includes providing detailed feedback on the content of your work, helping you shape ideas, concepts, themes, and narratives, as well as refining language and grammar. This is the "workshopping" of your piece - whether it's a fiction manuscript, an essay, or a marketing pitch - and your opportunity to receive input from an experienced writer on how your project works conceptually. This option is best for writers seeking substantive, content-focused comments on their work, or are seeking active coaching in improving their writing skills. (As a published author and former editor at a literary publication, I am an experienced and enthusiastic reader, writer, and editor of all forms of writing, *particularly fiction.* I hold a masters degree in English and Creative Writing from Cornell University; taught college-level courses and workshops in creative writing/prose/English composition; and I have an additional four years of experience in tutoring university and graduate students in English and writing. I am VERY GOOD at workshopping pieces and providing helpful feedback for writers. I promise that your project will benefit from my love of writing, editing experience, eye for detail, and macro-level feedback, particularly regarding plot, dialogue, and characters.)
