I work as a software developer to help design and develop GIS programming applications and tools and to maintain GIS software programs in accordance with the needs of the organizations and/or clients. Currently, I am working as an an ICT Engineer at Gorkha Municipality, Gorkha, Nepal; one of the government body of our country. As an government employee, I have a key role to manage technological infrastructures and communication mediums in the district I live in. And talking about development, its rather a slow process and is solely dependent on technological values. I have been managing mapping areas of Gorkha Municipality and have developed various interactive maps and GIS maps that are now live. Similarly, developing a software which helps maintaining a transparency in government works as well as private works are essential. Building a system, that comprises of various complex codings and designs, manipulating raw datas, extracting information from the source and understanding the essential needs of the customer are the priorities. As Covid pandemic hits the world, I have designed and developed a system to track the number of PCR test conducted, number of positive cases and deaths and information regarding quarantine and isolation. Also, talking about designs, it is very necessary to take into account the prerequisite of the client. Accordingly, the design should accompany corrections and debugging, again testing and redesigning. Then only the design would complete and is ready to be delivered to the clients. As an engineer by profession, I would like to adapt by the laws and regulations of engineering and consider persuading my jobs accordingly. Talking about GIS, it is used to generate maps that can be used to communicate, analyze, share information, and help solve complex problems around the world. Not everyone in the world can solve complex problems, but when you consider an engineer, he can handle it as good as nobody. Software designs to mapping works, web activities to IOT’s (Internet of things) are my favorite because they relate to my academic degree and standard.
