The first step in any project is always to agree on the particulars. Once we have completed that, we can do a preliminary interview to share any existing resources and outline the project plan and timeline.
We can then begin the interview process properly, which usually consists of fairly informal discussions around the topic or story to be told. I prefer to do these sessions in person where possible.
From there I get started typing up my notes and constructing the text, though the main refining happens in the editing and rewriting phase, which comes after the initial draft.
