illustrator

$41/hr Starting at $410

I am a comic-strip artist, writer and illustrator who produces work professionally for comics, magazines, online publications, companies and a variety of organizations including Dazed and Confused Magazine, Sadler’s Wells Breakin’ Convention, Museumand and the National Caribbean Heritage Museum,

In 1994 I joined the SKANK COLLECTIVE, a group of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic comic-strip producers. We produced SKANK and BLACK EYE magazines and the 2016 graphic novel, ‘SCOTLAND YARDIE’

Since then, my work has focused on humorous and satirical representations of African-Caribbean culture, however, as an artist with nearly 30 years’ experience, I can work to specific briefs as required.

In recent years, I have been presenting work as part of exhibitions exploring art in the community including exhibitions by Hackney Council, Reel Rebels Radio, and 'A Windrush Legacy' that took place at Rich Mix (2018).  My art work ‘The Windrush Scandal’ is due to be housed at the Black Cultural Archives.

My work as a community artist includes two residencies with Hackney Literacy Pirates working with young learners to produce artworks around the Windrush.

I'm available for work on flyers, posters, banners and both black and white and full colour illustrative projects.
