About

I create art to stimulate, observe, question and sometimes just to be enjoyed.

I am a comic-strip artist, illustrator, and designer who produces work professionally for comics, magazines, online publications, companies and community organisations. In 1994 I joined the Skank Collective, a group of African, Caribbean and Minority Ethnic comic-strip writers headed by Bobby Joseph, who produced Skank and Black Eye magazines, and the graphic novel 'Scotland Yardie' (2016). Since then, my work has focused on humorous and satirical representations of African-Caribbean culture and perspectives as an ‘insider looking out’.
My illustrations are often influenced by my background in dance. I am one of the UK originators of 'body-popping' and 'locking' street dance forms, dancing professionally from 1983 till 1991.
Nowadays I judge cypher battles at Breakin Convention (Sadler's Wells) Park Jam. I am honoured for opportunities to teach courses, workshops, judging competitions and give talks across comic-strip art/graffiti and dance disciplines.
In recent years I have been presenting work as part of art exhibitions exploring art in the community, residencies, workshops engaging differently and personally with audiences, working with Hackney Council Caribbean Tea Party, Reel Rebels Radio Windrush Legacy

Black Culture Archives are due to house my piece 'The Windrush Scandal'

Work Terms

I prefer to work no more than the standard eight hours per day, and no more than 40 hours per week unless specified in written form and agreed by both parties.
Extended hours would mean a higher rate of pay, to be discussed prior to engagement.
Communication is paramount, and I prefer to speak over the phone to a client as well as confirming everything in writing and/or email.
I feel that this keeps everything clear on both sides.
