Inking for Comics and Manga

$15/hr Starting at $25

I find inking to be therapeutic for me, because it helps me relax my mind and only focus on the lines. It a funny sense, it keeps everything in my mind black and white, meaning it keeps things simple. I usually do all my inking traditional with pens, quills, and brushes, but I also know how to ink digitally. I love making comics and inking is just one of my skills that I perform best at. I am a pretty fast inker, but I still take my time to make sure I do it right the first time. However I know a few tricks to help fix simple mistakes, but I usually don't run into many, but it happens to the best of us from time to time. So to minimize mistakes I usually tackle each page and panel a bit differently depending on how busy the page is and I determine which lines I should ink first before I spot blacks and ink other lines. Regular comic book artist charge by page and I do the same. I normally charge around 30$ a page. This is why my hourly rate is 15$ an hour because I normally ink a page in about 2 hours or so. Unless for some reason it is very small page then I could do it in about an hour but most comic book pages are 11x17 and that is why it takes a bit longer.
