A statement issued by the UAE Media Regulatory Office stated that it withdrew the viewing permit from all cinemas due to its violation of the media content standards stipulated in the country.

The office confirmed its commitment to following up and evaluating all films in cinemas before showing them to the public to ensure the safety of the content in them for the age group to be shown.

And through his official account on the social networking site, the Media Regulatory Office published the decision, which read: “The animated film Lightyear, which is scheduled to be released in cinemas starting on June 16, will not be granted permission to show in all cinemas in the Emirates, for violating the applicable media content standards. in the state"

He continued, "The office confirms the commitment of all films in cinemas in the country to follow-up and evaluation before the date of its presentation to the public to ensure the safety of the circulated content according to the appropriate age classification."

Arab countries ban "Lightyear" from showing

It is noteworthy that a number of media reports talked about preventing the film from being shown in Egypt because it contained scenes of kisses between gay personalities, a decision that a number of countries have already taken.

Local Egyptian media said that the film was scheduled to be shown on June 17 in theaters, but so far no official decision has been issued to stop the show from censoring artistic works, and it is the Egyptian authority competent to grant viewing permits for films.
