I've studied drawing and painting from the famed portrait and figure artist, Ted Seth Jacobs, as well as from the award-winning illustrator and fine artist, Jeffrey Watts. Bringing two traditions and styles of art together, I work with a balance of skills and emotional response to my subject.
A portrait requires much more than recreating the likeness of a face. A great portrait requires a sensitivity to nuances within the person, within emotions of the moment that best personify that person in a flattering and authentic way.
I paint my portraits from life either at my studio in Colorado or at the location of the person. I also paint portraits from photographs, but it is important to have the right photographs. If you are uncertain if your photographs will work or not, please feel free to contact me and I will offer a free consultation to help you determine the best photos that will translate into a portrait.
