After 6 years leading the development, design and launch of innovative software, I pride myself as an end-to-end leader who can drive product innovation from ideation through deployment. Inherent in this is an ability to lead the hands-on work of engineers and designers by distilling consumer and industry insights to best drive product decisions. I have honed the delicate art of effective communication with end users, stakeholders, business leaders and technical staff. I have many years experience capturing user stories, prioritizing backlogs, managing roadmaps and driving software from ideation/inception through QA, user story acceptance and eventual release.
At Gap I authored over 100 stories and epics, along with acceptance criteria and persona definitions. I then led a six-week inception to refine requirements and then organize them into hierarchical backlogs with frequent grooming and upper management review. I managed our product roadmap. I led desk checks with developers to socialize stories before playing them. I also led all feature demos, acceptance testing and signed off on releases.
I did the same at Groundbreaker. Being a startup we began with wireframes that we tested daily with new users in a two-week concept period. Using scripted tests, the CEO and I validated product assumptions with real users every day. I then updated our clickable wireframes to reflect learnings and new assumptions until we felt we had a product with much higher positive reception. Eventually I created hundreds of stories and managed that backlog, including discussions of in-flight stories with our developers and designers. We used Scrum and Lean methods, which allowed us to release the first version of our MVP in three months.
I've targeted mobile for over six years now, be that responsive design (Groundbreaker), strictly mobile (Sephora), or mobile first (HipGive). But regardless of the technology being used, the key to success is execution
