The most challenging project that I worked on was the analysis and proposal to change an existing business model. The company's industry is very capital intensive and distant from consumers. And, as a result of several mergers and acquisitions, the organization structure was a collection of various international and multi-cultural entities; each being a profit center.
I proposed that the sales and distribution company become a Limited Risk Distributor and title of the goods would pass only momentarily before invoicing the customer.
Under this business model, the production unit became the profit center. The sales and distribution companies operated off a commission.
This model streamlined the stock management, sales invoicing and cash management processes.
The difficulty of the project was evident in the change management. I was pleased that the change was implemented.
