Scanned hard copy to Excel

$15/hr Starting at $25

Scanned documents are processed through an OCR program into recognised text which is outputted into Excel. At this stage the text is often misplaced between cells and over columns which requires so much cumbersome formatting that a retype is usually easier, though a challenge in itself. Using a library of formatting tools developed over 7 years of producing electronic versions of valuable hard copy material for a data information service, every situation is quickly corrected and the OCR or other conversion into Excel is brought in line with the original. Housed behind several attractive interfaces, commands are run by button clicks or keyboard shortcuts. There is an interface with commands specific to the formatting of bank and credit card statements, and interfaces dealing with itemised billing - and others as the programs are always in development. An example of the power of Excel VBA is that even if a bank statement has been copied from online but unfortunately pastes as one long string in a single cell, in the formatter's toolbox is a macro that will read the data intelligently so as to split it into its precise rows and columns. Novel situations are easily worked around with existing macros or adhoc VBA to solve them. If necessary the data is proofread, and once perfect it can be further tailored as per the requirements of the client. Very large projects can be taken on. Small projects are a cinch.
