I have 10 years of experience with OpenGL ES since inception of the programmable 2.0 API around 2008.
On Android I have used the OpenGL ES to write games, in Java, using the API directly.
I have create prototypes for Collada based asset interchange and 3D content pipelines, and worked with Android platform vendors to review and benchmark GPU solutions.
My understanding of Android and OpenGL ES spans from GPU hw implementation details to usage of the 3.2 API including compute and geometry shaders.
