Social Marketing Consultant

I am an independent Social Marketing consultant, I have collaborated with several USAID projects in the last 15 years, as well as with other donors and global contractors. Based on my extensive experience and knowledge of commercial marketing, I have focused on social marketing with the main objective of supporting projects that contribute to the welfare and social development of communities in Guatemala. I have accompanied and complemented organizations that emphasize health, education, gender violence and environmental development, designing and implementing social marketing strategies within which, I would like to highlight the use of a wide array of M&E tools, methods and approaches, consequently providing management and other stakeholders indication of progress and achievement of program objectives. My knowledge and experience in the field of market research has been useful to perform operational research, formative research, monitoring, and program evaluation activities. Using household surveys, qualitative methods, and process evaluations, projects that I have been involved with have gathered data that helped management to understand complex behaviors, thus improved implementation strategies and supported programmatic decision-making. I have extensive experience interacting with social actors (development agencies, social contractors, NGOs, public and private sector), having managed technical work groups for a variety of social projects, guiding them to apply advocacy strategies to create or change policies, regulations, distribution of resources or other decisions that affect the lives of people within the community and to ensure that such decisions lead to implementation. • Providing management and main stakeholders of an ongoing intervention with early indications of progress, or lack thereof, in the achievement of results. • Delivering information that is credible and useful, enabling the incorporation of lessons learned into the decision-making process of both recipients and donors. • Developing M&E Plans considering documents developed during the program´s planning process, such as logical framework, theory of change to clarify scope, purpose, data usage, audience and budget for evaluation. • Selecting and writing indicators to provide a clear means of measuring achievement and determining all data collection methods. • Executing research study design, outcome measurement and statistical analysis methods. • Reviewing the information obtained to see if there are patterns or trends that emerge from the evaluation process, interpreting, providing feedback and making recommendations. • Designing communication strategies to change behavior for social development projects. • Selecting and apply behavioral research methods (qualitative / quantitative) to study social problems and evaluate community participation. • Conducting formative research, understand different audiences and develop specific goals and objectives for programs.
