Proofreading is the final stage before a manuscript is published or posted to the web. Proofreaders make your work "camera ready;" we take a line-by-line look at a manuscript to ensure that all typos, misspellings, and stray characters (etc.) have been removed from the manuscript. We also check issues related to formatting (e.g., consistent treatment of headings), and will sometimes double-check the copy editor's work, if necessary, to ensure correct usage/spelling of brand names, titles, etc. At this stage, your manuscript should be fully developed, written, and copy edited. Only then is a manuscript ready for proofreading. Please note that sci-fi/fantasy manuscripts set in fictional universes or employing specialized (manuscript-specific) terminology will be proofread at $28 hourly. Texts written in highly academic language will also be read at $28 hourly.
