Professionally Trained Editor and Proofreader

As the co-editor and co-author of a nationally released anthology, and with 13 years experience working at the Modern Language Association (an elite academic publisher), I am fully qualified to expertly polish your work and elevate it to the best it can be.

I am a professionally trained copy editor and proofreader. My undergraduate degree is in English (Writing), and I hold a Certificate of Editorial Study (i.e., five semester-length classes) from New York University's Professional School.

I am cognizant of my clients' deadlines and will deliver manuscripts on or before our agreed due date. I work closely with my clients in order to form strong professional relationships; I will always treat your manuscript with respect.

As a freelance copy/developmental editor, I specialize in fiction and creative non-fiction, but also have keen interest in 19th century American history, African American lit, feminist lit, memoirs, and poetry. However, I can work equally well with all manner of prose, with the exception of medical and scientific writing.

My book, Voices Beyond Bondage: An Anthology of Verse by African Americans of the 19th Century, was released last year (2014) from NewSouth Books, and has received national media attention. As a touring author-editor, I've been invited to give author talks at almost two dozen institutions across the Northeast.

My many years at the MLA taught me the best practices of editorial work, especially with regard to copy editing. Having spent over a decade in the MLA's scholarly environment, I am comfortable working with the academic language of the humanities.
