I host, maintain and manage over 140 WordPress sites on a collection of VPS' located in Australia, Singapore and the United States. In 2010, the overall maintenance focused on Theme & Plugin updates. However the environment has changed significantly over the last 4 years and WordPress security has become my major focus. Many of my most recent clients approached me for my services after their sites were maliciously hacked or infected with Malware causing their domains to be blacklisted. My experience has proved that WordPress security plugins are ineffective without assessing the root cause. This includes deep scans of the root directories, investigating the contents of hidden files (.htaccess etc...), management and analysis via Google Webmaster Tools and a variety of 3rd party online resources.
