What we hear depends on what we understand, which in turn depends on our familiarity and understanding of the subject. As an academic, I have had the training to listen and to understand, which equips me to turn out a quality transcript. I have done a few transcriptions using the software Transcribe, which supports the following audio files: mp3, mp4, m4a, amr, wma and wav. I am a meticulous transcriber. I go over a transcript and compare it with the audio a number of times, to ensure that it is error free. Since I take a lot of pains over my transcripts, I can do no more than 45 minutes of transcribing per day. My charge for transcription is $1 per audio minute.
