I started my career in video production in 2001, while a master control operator at the ABC affiliate in Boise, Idaho. Within two years, I moved into the newsroom as a videographer. I spent that time honing my skills in the trenches, covering breaking news, politics, sports and features that helped shape the Treasure Valley. My role in the newsroom allowed me to work with and learn from experienced storytellers, helping bolster my abilities. In fact, for two straight years, I was Idaho’s most award-winning videographer, collecting awards and trophies from the Idaho Press Club, Idaho State Broadcasters Association and — most notably — three Emmys from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
After five years in the newsroom, I made the decision to transition into the station’s marketing and promotions department, developing and editing creative news teases, client commercials and station image promotions on a nightly basis. My new position exposed me to new opportunities to learn about writing, graphics editing and branding. It also helped add to my list of awards, having nabbed multiple Rockies from the Boise Ad Federation for creative writing, directing and editing.
I soon realized my passion for producing videos couldn’t be confined to a day job, which is why I launched 2 See Video Productions in mid-2011. In the beginning, I spent weeknights and weekends creating projects for clients ranging from pitch reels to music videos to cinema ads. By mid-2013, 2 See Video Productions had grown exponentially, prompting me to leave my position at the station to devote my full attention to my production company’s clients.
