Working together to create something beautiful.
As an artist, illustrator, designer, and creative art director with a professional foundation from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and studies in visual communication at the University of Brighton in England, my work centers on a dialogue between direct observation and imaginative interpretation. Originally from Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, I've shaped my creative journey through the diverse environments I’ve inhabited, from the historic craft traditions of Boston to the rugged, inspiring landscapes of Lake Superior's North Shore. I specialize in art and illustration for the publishing, media, and natural science sectors, translating complex, abstract concepts into evocative imagery. Synthesizing tangible forms with their emotional resonance, I strive to revitalize the visual connection to the environment, ensuring that projects ranging from editorial spreads to intricate scientific renderings remain engaging and visually striking.
My design work bridges the gap between fine art aesthetics and strategic visual solutions. My experience includes comprehensive brand design initiatives for start-ups, international companies, nonprofits, and conservation organizations, involving logo designs, detailed map redesigns, the creation of extensive iconography libraries, and the transformation of photographic archives into custom digital assets. My approach balances utility with a handcrafted sensibility, developing brand guidelines that enable a wide range of organizations to communicate their core mission through a distinct, versatile visual language across print and digital platforms.
Beyond my studio practice, I am a dedicated advocate for arts education and community engagement. I have served in leadership roles overseeing marketing and visitor engagement, and I bridge high-level brand strategy and hands-on mentorship. My teaching philosophy, developed through faculty roles at various fine art and craft institutions across the Midwest and East Coast, emphasizes technical mastery and experimentation to help students discover their unique visual voices. Additionally, I operate Rooted Relics, a creative venture where I apply my illustration and design expertise to custom wood carvings.
Work Terms
I approach every project with a balance of creativity, structure, and clear communication. My process is collaborative and detail-oriented, ensuring each deliverable aligns with your vision while upholding high standards of craftsmanship and design.
Project Process - Each project begins with an initial discussion to define scope, goals, timeline, and deliverables. For design and custom work, I typically provide concepts or drafts for review before moving into final production. Feedback is welcome at key stages to ensure alignment throughout the process.
Payment Terms - For most projects, I require a 30–50% upfront deposit, with the remaining balance due upon completion prior to final file delivery. Larger or long-term projects may be billed on a milestone basis. Hourly or fixed-rate structures are both available, depending on project scope.
Turnaround Time - Varies based on project complexity. Smaller design projects may be completed within a few days, while custom artwork or detailed work may require additional time. Clear timelines will be established at the start of each project, and I strive to meet or exceed agreed deadlines.
Revisions - A set number of revisions is included, depending on the project scope. Additional revisions beyond the agreed scope may incur an additional fee. My goal is to ensure you are fully satisfied with the final result.
Communication - I prioritize clear and timely communication. Messages are typically responded to within 24 hours on business days.
Availability - I am available for both short-term and ongoing projects. Availability may vary depending on the current workload, but I will always communicate scheduling clearly before the project starts.
File Delivery - Final files are delivered in agreed-upon formats, fully prepared for print, digital use, or production as needed.
